Antique Carnevale Out Now, is Square Enix Styled Chess
Whilst it’s definitely news that Antique Carnevale released today in Japan, and that it looks like a cool blend of RPG and chess, I think that the real news here is that Yahoo! is very popular in Japan. You can play it via the Yahoo! Game Plus service now, and it’s available on PC and mobile.
A new trailer has been released which you can watch below, but sadly it doesn’t include gameplay.
You can use a camera when facing an opponent (for some reason) as you battle to capture their king piece. As opposed to being standard chess, the pieces follow a combat triangle system similar to Fire Emblem where pieces each have their own strengths and weaknesses. You can summon beasts to help you, as well as collect pieces to create the ultimate team.
Antique Carnivale is out now in Japan, with no word on a Western release.
