Attack on Titan Escape from Certain Death Out Now in Japan, Watch the First 20 Minutes
Attack on Titan Escape from Certain Death has released now in Japan. This is the 3DS Visual Novel / Adventure game that sees you escaping from, well, certain death, alongside Levi, Mikasa, and some other characters. It looks like it’s pretty cool.
YouTuber にゃっ太兵長 has already uploaded the first 20 minutes of the game. He’s a Japanese YouTuber, so you might not be able to understand what he’s saying. But it provides a good look at the opening of the game, and some of its early mechanics. The game has you exploring the environments, and moving around a map to try to progress.
At certain points in the game a metre will grow to show the oncoming approach (or, “shingeki” you might say) of the Titans. During these moments you’ll also sometimes have to make timed decisions. It mainly plays like a point and click, with a lot of reading in between.
Koei Tecmo and Omega Force’s Attack on Titan from last year was super action packed, but it’s nice to see a somewhat slower paced adventure game take on the series too. It’d be great to see this head west, but there’s a tonne of text in the game, so it’ll be a tough one. It’s developed by Ruby Party (who are usually known for romance games), and their stuff doesn’t tend to come over. But… Attack on Titan is certainly a big property. Fingers crossed!
