Further details have emerged about Bandai Namco’s new action RPG, Code Vein! Set in a future where everything has gone to ruin, Code Vein follows vampiric beings with supernatural abilities called Revenants. Revenants have transcended humanity, but at the cost of most of their memories. Check out the teaser trailer below:
Not much is known about Code Vein yet, but it focuses on dramatic exploration, as players team up with allies to traverse dungeons and uncovers truths about the isolated society ‘Vein’. The ‘buddy’ system allows you to choose which ally you want to take along to explore dungeons with you. With this ally in tow, you’ll be able to overcome great challenges that you might have otherwise given up on. Your ‘buddy’ will act on their own, but you’ll also need to take action to help them out sometimes.
A couple of key terms for the game are:
– Blood Veil – A piece of Revenant equipment that sucks up the blood of Losts – Revenants short on blood that have transformed into monsters. The Blood Veil takes the appearance of clothing and functions like armour, but a dedicated mechanism appears for blood sucking, and the user’s mask undergoes a change.
– Special Ability: Tempered Blood – This ability can be activated after a successful blood-sucking attack on a Lost using the Blood Veil. There are a number of results, depending on the type of blood consumed, such as strengthening yourself, weakening enemies, and attacking directly.
There will be an official reveal on 20th April that should tell us more about when Code Vein will be releasing and what for, but it is set to be a worldwide release. A gameplay trailer will be released in early May too.
Development of Code Vein is currently at 35%.
