Caligula Overdose Is Headed to PS4 Alongside an Anime Adaptation
Did you play The Caligula Effect on Vita? It released to lukewarm reviews and much of this was due to how it wasn’t well-optimised for the handheld, and so it’s great to see that it’s going to get another chance to prove itself with Caligula Overdose on PS4 next year.
The Caligula Effect is a JRPG with social elements, and it takes place in a virtual world called Mobius. The protagonist realises he’s in a virtual world, where he’s being forced to live out his high-school years indefinitely, and so he teams up with other people who have come to the same conclusion to form the “Go-Home Club”. You’ll have to fight to escape, but the God-like leader of the world, μ (Mu), is determined to never let them leave.
The remake will allow you to play as a female protagonist, and the Go-Home Club will have two new members. Updated visuals, new music and new gameplay scenarios will be included in the remake.
Caligula Overdose will launch exclusively on PS4 next May in Japan, and it’s likely to head to the West at some point. The anime will follow the events of the game and will begin airing in April.
