CLANNAD Officialy Available on Steam

It’s been a long wait, but finally one of the most famous visual novels to date has officially arrived on western shores. Gamers can finally experience CLANNAD on Steam.

Sekai Project launched an official Kickstarter for the game last year, asking only for $140,000. By the end they managed to earn over $500,000 making this the highest earning visual novel Kickstarter campaign at the time only outdone by the even more popular Muv-Luv recently.

Aside from the obligatory Steam achievements, the game now features HD visuals, with a resolution of 1280×960, bundled side story and an anthology manga. Those that are new to these types of games and Japanese culture in general can use the newly included Dangopedia, a handy reference tool with terms from traditional Japanese culture to pop culture.

The game follows Tomoya Okazaki, a high school student who after his mother’s death was raised by his abusive, alcoholic father, turning him into a delinquent. He meets Nagisa Furukawa, a strange girl who asks him to help her revive their school’s drama club. Even though the game might seem like your typical visual novel at a glance, expect a lot of tearjerker scenes in this one.

You can pick up CLANNAD on Steam for 45.99€, £29.99 and $49.99
