Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth English Version Announced, New Screenshots

It’s finally happening. After years of begging, and being given only the pretty poor Digimon All Star Rumble, there’s finally going to be a Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth English version. Bandai Namco are localizing the JRPG for a western release on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, with the latter only being available digitally. They expect to release the game in 2016.

Fans have been asking for Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth to be localized for quite some time, making this a dream come true for many Digimon fans.

In Europe we haven’t had a “mainline” Digimon game since Digimon World 4 in 2005. North America stopped getting them in 2007/08 with Digimon World Dawn/Dusk and Digimon World Championship.

Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth takes place in a near-future where logging into the digital world has become commonplace. The two world begin to blend together after you meet an online hacker, and end up having to unravel a mystery that spans both worlds. The game features over 200 Digimon, and uses a turn-based battle system.

While it’s great to see Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth coming west after all the demand, that still leaves us missing some pretty big games in the Digimon series from the period of its absence in the west. Most notably Digimon World Re:Digitize, which was also very well received in Japan.
