Fire Emblem Echoes Gets First English Screenshots
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, an updated 3DS port of Fire Emblem Gaiden, was announced during the Fire Emblem Direct in January. There’s little information on what will be new to Echoes and what will carry over from Gaiden, but we can make a few assumptions from some shiny new screenshots on Nintendo’s UK website.
Fire Emblem Gaiden had a lot of unusual features for a Fire Emblem game, such as dungeon crawling and free roaming. It also has magic casting which reduces the character’s HP, and this can be seen returning in Echoes – as if keeping people alive isn’t hard enough! It looks like Gaiden‘s terrain bonuses will also be making a reappearance.
It’s unclear whether some of the aspects of what is now considered ‘traditional’ Fire Emblem gameplay, such as the weapon triangle and Supports between characters, will be added to Echoes, but it’s comforting to know the unique flare of Gaiden will be remaining in tact.
It’s still early days for what we know about Echoes, but it’s looking very promising! The updated visuals and voiceover are certainly welcome changes as far as I’m concerned!
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia releases for Nintendo 3DS on 20th April in Japan and 19th May internationally.
