Fire Emblem Warriors Details and Screenshots Revealed

Some Fire Emblem Warriors details and screenshots have been revealed in the latest issue of Famitsu, and some character profiles have just been added to Koei Tecmo’s official site for the game! We now have a fair bit of info on what to expect from the game, including gameplay features and two brand new protagonists.

The eldest son of the royal family of the Aitoris Kingdom. He is energetic and positive, and the type of person who acts before thinking things through.

The prince of the Halidom of Ylisse, from Fire Emblem Awakening. While a member of the royal family, he also leads the Shepherds, a volunteer force dedicated to protecting the people of Ylisse. Chrom has a straightforward personality and lacks the arrogance one might expect of him as a prince.

Marth (CV: Hikaru Midorikawa)

The prince of Altea, from Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon. Marth has a helpful personality, and isn’t one to push himself to the forefront or order people around. Even so, he shows his true strength on the battlefield.

Story

Fire Emblem Warriors Details and Screenshots Revealed

The country of Aitoris was attacked by an evil darkness. Without warning, a portal leading to other dimensions appeared in the royal castle, and powerful monsters poured out, trampling the knights to death.

The castle was destroyed, and the country slowly started to fade into darkness.

However, there is still hope. Two royal heirs, Shion and Lian, managed to escape the castle as shadows surrounded by fire. A thread of fate links them to the legendary heroes…

Holding the Shield of Fire they received from their mother, the two start their journey to defeat the great darkness.

Further details about the game’s roster and gameplay aspects were revealed in the Famitsu interview:

– Development is currently 70% complete

– The first thing decided was “to make a Musou game that Fire Emblem fans will enjoy”

– Recurring classes and strategy elements from the series, such as the Weapon Triangle, will be included, so you’ll do extra damage against a Pegasus Knight as an Archer, for example

– Characters included will generally be from Shadow Dragon, Awakening, and Fates – the reason for this is that including protagonists from across the series would mean there were too many that use swords

– The number of playable characters is more than in the first entry of any other Musou series collaboration

– There will be various classes you can play as, such as Archers and Mages, and you can switch characters while playing

– The world setting can’t be disclosed yet, but there is a ‘Shield of Fire’ that has come beyond space and time

– Units on horses will always fight on horseback to preserve the charm of their high mobility

– The game is fully voiced and there is a huge amount of text, including both serious and more light-hearted conversations

– The game will feature Supports, but friendship will not develop into romance and there is no marriage

I have to admit I’m quite disappointed to see the cast being limited to mostly 3 games, though I can understand wanting to mix up the playable classes and that there would be an overabundance of swords if you focused solely on the protagonists, with Shion and Lian adding to that number now too.

Still, I’m hoping we’ll see a few fan favourites slip through the net, or perhaps protagonists who don’t fight using a sword, such as Hector or Ephraim. It’ll be interesting to see the full lineup though, and there may very well be DLC characters down the line with a game like this.
