Japanese Video Game Chart Analysis – Week 32

Quiet weeks seem to be becoming common place in the Japanese video game industry as yet another mediocre sales period passes by. With the top 10 selling just 199,471 it’s fair to say the Summer sales lull is in full swing.

Disney Magic Castle: My Happy Life maintains its position at number 1 for a 2nd week running despite a 62% drop in sales. The 3DS title managed to easily beat out console counterpart Mario and Luigi: Dream Team and sold over 17,000 units more.

As the only new entry in the top 10 One Piece: Romance Dawn manages to stake a claim for bronze with just under 25,000 units shifted, however, you can expect this one to linger in the chart for the long haul.

Elsewhere home console title Dragon’s Crown finally splits from its portable counterpart and claims 4th place with the Vita version dropping way down to 7th selling over 9000 units less.

Top 10 Cumulative Sales

For Week 32 the top 10 sold a combined 199,471 down 10% on Week 31.

Game Of The Week – One Piece: Romance Dawn

Romance Dawn is an RPG based in the universe of media franchise One Piece, the series focuses on a group pirates who are in search of the legendary “Ultimate Treasure”.

The narrative centres upon Luffy’s ( the main protagonist) opening adventures up until the battle of Marineford. (That’s up to about episode 490 in the anime for those who care)

The title received a solid 32/40 (four 8/10’s) review score from Japanese gaming bible Famitsu and this bodes well for those looking to get their RPG fix in the world of Luffy and his friends.

Thankfully the good people at Namco Bandai Games have announced Romance Dawn will be coming to European shores this November, something of a coup considering North America will see no such release.

Spread the love!
