Live Action One Piece – Kabuki Play Coming October
Rumours of a live action One Piece have floated around for a while now, but it looks like it’s finally happening. Though not in the traditional way you’d expect. Moreover, in the traditional way you wouldn’t expect. One Piece is being made into a traditional Japanese Kabuki play. The play will run from October 7 to November 25, and will feature around thirty different characters from One Piece.
The play will adapt the Summit War Saga, the sixth saga in the One Piece story. It will be adapted in such a way that even those unfamiliar with One Piece will be able to understand what’s going on — which is quite a feat!
Ennosuke Ichikawa IV (Samurai Hustle) will be playing Luffy, as well as Shanks and Boa Hancock. The play will run at Shinbashi Enbujo in Tokyo.
It’s hard to think of how well they’ll be able to adapt One Piece into a theatrical production. We’d love to see it, though! How do you think they’ll manage?
