Love Live! School Idol Project to officially get an English Dub

As one of my all-time favourite anime, it makes me very happy to see NIS America announce that they’ll be dubbing both seasons of the fantastic Love Live! School Idol Project anime.

Whilst the second seasons lacks details about its home release at the moment, NIS has announced that they’ll be releasing season one in North America with dual-audio, giving you the option of Japanese or English voices. The Premium Edition is receiving one last reprint too, so if you missed out originally, make sure you don’t this time!

One of the worries about the show being dubbed is the music but like many music-orientated shows before Love Live!, such as K-On!, it’s safe to assume that the songs will not be recorded in English. Love Live! is massive and are treated like real idols with professional Japanese artists lending their voices, going on tour and creating music videos, and so whilst a dub will attract more fans, I don’t think dubbing the songs will really benefit the show and it wouldn’t quite be ‘Love Live!’ as we know it.

I absolutely adore the show, and you can read my review of season one here, and so I hope that this means we will see a blu-ray release in Europe shortly after the North American release.

Spread the love!
