Marvel vs Capcom 4 Announcement at PlayStation Experience, Sources Claim
The rumour is always fruitlessly coming up that a fabled Marvel vs Capcom 4 is in development. But, with the hype announcements at PlayStation Experience last year, and Polygon claiming multiple sources have told them that’s where a Marvel vs Capcom 4 announcement will be made, we have high hopes.
Sony’s PlayStation Experience will also play host to the Capcom Cup 2016, a Street Fighter V tournament — so we know that Capcom are already putting some eggs into Sony’s basket. Making a new game announcement wouldn’t be out of the question at all.
One of the biggest problems with the Marvel vs Capcom 4 rumours have always been the licensing rights, so it’s unclear how a Marvel vs Capcom 4 would even work. Many Marvel games that were at one point sold digitally on PSN have been removed over time, including previous Marvel vs Capcom games, none of which are currently available on PSN. As an aside Capcom’s JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is also unavailable.
The licensing issues is why a Marvel vs Capcom 4 has always seemed unlikely, especially with how Marvel properties are always shooting all over the place in the world of game development. It could be that both Marvel and Capcom will need to get creative in how they build the roster for Marvel vs Capcom 4. It wouldn’t be crazy to only see Marvel Cinematic Universe characters in the game, which would mean none of the X-Men characters that have been a staple of the series for years.
No matter what happens though we’ll always be excited for any new Marvel vs Capcom announcements. We’re certainly looking forward to PlayStation Experience!
