New Nintendo 2DS XL Coming This July
In light of the recent successful launch of the Nintendo Switch, the future of its older portable brother the 3DS was uncertain. To everyone’s surprise Nintendo announced the New Nintendo 2DS XL.
Like before, the 2DS will support all 3DS games except without the 3D. This redesign comes in a clamshell form factor, with two color options Black X Turquoise and White X Orange. It features a 4.88-inch screen and weights around 260 grams, which is lighter than the 3DS XL and around the same weight as the original 2DS.
Like the New Nintendo 3DS the 2DS will have a small C stick as well as ZL and ZR buttons. As opposed to the mono speakers, this time around the 2DS will come with stereo speakers. While the original 2DS required an additional adapter for Amiibo support this new model will have that built in not unlike the 3DS.
The New Nintendo 2DS XL will be available for $149,99 on July 13th in Japan and July 28th in Europe and North America.
