Nier Automata New E3 2016 Trailer

Nier Automata’s new trailer shown at this year’s E3 opens up with a group of androids battling it out against a giant mechanized opera singer whose dress is adorned with lifeless man-sized dolls. Yep, it’s Nier as we know it.

The stunning combat is done by none other than Platinum Games, which promises to blow all its predecessors out of the water, but still retain the giant boss battles and bullet hell segments that made the original so iconic. The trailer also shows-off a variety of striking locales including vast deserts, dilapidated military facilities and once bustling cities now overgrown with vegetation.

The story is as follows:

The distant future…

Invaders from another world attack without warning, unleashing a new type of threat: weapons known as “machine lifeforms.” In the face of this insurmountable threat, mankind is driven from Earth and takes refuge on the Moon.

The Council of Humanity organizes a resistance of android soldiers in an effort to take back their planet. To break the deadlock, the Resistance deploys a new unit of android infantry: YoRHa .
In the forsaken wasteland below, the war between the machines and the androids rages on.

A war that is soon to unveil the long-forgotten truth of this world…

Despite everything we have seen, we still but can’t feel a bit uneasy, since up until now we haven’t seen a sliver of RPG elements, side quests or deep character interactions. Hopefully our fears will be put to rest when the game hits store shelves in early 2017 for the PlayStation 4.
