Prepare Yourself For at Least 51 Episodes of Black Clover

Black Clover, this season’s hottest new shonen manga from the pages of Shonen Jump itself, is set to receive at least 51 episodes, over four cours. The news comes from the official website’s own listings of upcoming DVD & Blu-ray releases, which go up to a “Chapter V”, covering episodes 40 through to 51.

The animation quality of Black Clover is pretty high, and it’s a gorgeous looking show. Fans of what they’ve seen so far (to date only 5 episodes have aired), should be overjoyed by this news.

It’s worth noting that the manga only has 131 chapters at time of writing, which means the anime would be covering either most of the material to date, or incorporating some unique arcs (I guess you might say “filler”).

We’ve already had some extensive flashbacks in the anime so far, so it wouldn’t be surprising if it verges towards the latter. Though how much you end up enjoying that is, of course, going to be your own opinion.

In any case it looks like Studio Pierrot’s take on Black Clover is definitely here to stay for quite a while. 51 episodes is at least a year’s worth of material, depending on how it’s broken up. This does also mean those who were thinking to stick it out if it was only a short season will have to ask themselves how much they’re going to stay around sooner rather than later.

Given the high bar for the animation of the show, it’s definitely nice to see there’s already quite a bit of confidence with the show.

Western fans seem to be quite enjoying it so far, as My Anime List currently has Black Clover ranked number 3 in the seasonal anime charts by users watching. That puts it behind The Ancient Magus’ Bride and Food Wars: Shokugeki no Souma Season 3 at #1 and #2 respectively.

Black Clover is currently airing on Crunchyroll on Tuesdays.

Spread the love!
