Resident Evil 7 Demo Update “Twilight Version”, New Trailer, CERO Z Version Confirmed

Capcom have announced a Resident Evil 7 demo update that will change it into a “Twilight Version” which “allows players to explore more of the mysterious, derelict mansion”. The update drops today, 15th September. They’ve also released a creepy new trailer “Tape 2: The Bakers”.

Kinda spooky. Kinda creepy. Kinda cool. Yet again there appears to be a bunch of the player being chased, so it seems that being “hunted” could play a large role in the game mechanically. And again, the focus on a family makes it seem like a more stripped back, personal, and intimate experience than the last few Resident Evil games.

It’s unclear at this time exactly what the Twilight Version of the demo will add, though we look forward to finding out. Maybe it will finally give some purpose to some of the mysterious and apparently useless items in the original release of the demo.

The Resident Evil 7 demo was originally available only to PlayStation Plus members, but the Twilight Version will now make the demo available to all users. This means that only PlayStation Plus members will be able to directly experience the differences between the versions. Though they could just watch gameplay videos of the original version like… oh? What’s this? These are our videos?? Give it a watch!

Also, pretty interestingly, Capcom will be releasing a CERO Z rated version of Resident Evil 7 in Japan alongside the “normal” version. This version is called the “Grotesque” version, with the “Z” rating being the highest rating, for 18+. It’s unclear how this will compare to the standard version or how this will be handled in the west, though CERO Z ratings are not that uncommon and include games like Call of Duty: Black Ops, God of War 3, and the upcoming Beserk game from Koei Tecmo.

Resident Evil 7 is due to release 24th January 2016 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Spread the love!
