Rilakkuma Gets a Netflix Stop-Motion Animated Series

If you have been to Japan, chances are high that you have already seen Rilakkuma before, or at least heard his name around. Like many Japanese mascots, Rilakkuma can be used to sell almost anything, from stationary to pieces of furniture. And because Rilakkuma is now 15 years old, he’s now getting his own Netflix series!

The series should be quite short, it will have 13 episodes of 11 minutes and will be animated by Dwarf Animation Studio, who previously worked on the Domo-kun adaptation. And for those who are curious about the story, here is the overview from the Rilakkuma official website:

“Rilakkuma” means “Bear in relaxed mood”.
At all time and everywhere he goes he is continuously lazy and relaxed.
He is totally stress-free and also doing things on his own pace.
He is someone impossible to be hated by others.
You will be dragged into Rilakkuma’s world and become lazy and relaxed while watching what everything he does.

The Rilakkuma series is due to air in 2018.

Spread the love!
