Rodea the Sky Soldier Wii U First Prints to Include Wii Version in NA

NIS America have announced that first print copies of the Wii U version of Yuji Naka’s passion project, Rodea the Sky Soldier, will include the Wii version of the game too. What’s weird is that the Wii version was initially thought to have been cancelled, despite being finished in 2011, as nobody would publish it. It’s a bit of an odd situation that hasn’t really happened in the video game world before.

So why would you want the cancelled Wii version in addition to the Wii U version? Well, for starters the Wii version has those sweet motion controls you’ve come to love from the system. Waggle, waggle. There’s also a competitive multiplayer mode which is absent from the Wii U and 3DS versions for some reason. But on top of that, it’s just sort of interesting to have a cancelled game, isn’t it? It’s definitely a nice bonus, even though I’m not 100% sure about how it makes me feel.

Kadokawa, the game’s Japanese publishers, had already promised to include the Wii version with the Wii U version, so NIS America are just following suit. No word yet on whether or not the EU will get a similar deal, but fingers crossed.

It does mean that the Wii U version does have a potentially higher value proposition than the 3DS version. Let us know if it affects the platform you plan to get it on!
