Sekai Project AWA 2016 Announcements: Project Lux, Falsetto Memories and More!

The localisation company, Sekai Project, has announced three new titles during a live panel at Anime Weekend Atlanta. The three titles, Serment – Contract with a Devil, Falsetto Memories and Project Lux, excitingly offer vastly different gameplay experiences, from virtual reality to dungeon crawlers!

Serment – Contract with a Devil

Serment – Contract with a Devil is an anime dungeon crawler game developed by the English group, NKT Studio. There are four female protagonists to choose from, each with changeable names, unique personalities, stories and endings. It features classic turn-based battles, mini games and multiple side characters. The developers have also incorporated yuri relationships, although they have stated that these relationships are skippable if such romance is not to your taste. The game is currently Greenlit on Steam and is working towards an April, 2017 release date. A demo is also available.

Serment – Contract with a Devil is a Visual Novel – Dungeon Crawler – Management Simulation hybrid where you play as 1 of the 4 young and beautiful girls who recently died but is brought back to life by a devil (who also happens to be a young and beautiful girl).

Though, instead of claiming your ever so cliche human soul, the devil demands a huge sum of money for payment. You also learn of the dreadful fact that you will die again if the payment is not in time.

Can you make enough money in time to save your life?

Falsetto Memories

Falsetto Memories is a yuri visual novel developed by the English indie group, Chrono Work Studios. The game revolves around the life of an ‘Idol Girl’ named Yuuki, who wants ‘to be something more’. Chrono Work Studios has announced on their twitter page that a demo of Falsetto Memories should hopefully be available soon. A release date has not yet been specified.

Yuuki is 19 years old and finished high school for a while, living in a small village in Japan. Wishing to go continue her studies in Tokyo, Yuuki has to muster up the courage to ask and convince her best friend Shigure to come with her. Both love astronomy, and spend many of their nights studying the magic of falling stars and meteor showers.

Project Lux

Project Lux is developed by the Japanese company, Spicy Tails, and features a scenario authored by Isuna Hasekura, the creator of Spice and Wolf. Other than what is explained in the synopsis, little is known about Project Lux. No release date has been announced and the game is still very much in the development process in Japan. A short video of Project Lux’s gameplay was however posted on Spicy Tails’ Twitter page late this August.

Our story takes place in a court trial, set in a futuristic world where most humans have cyberbrains. The defendant on trial is an agent who coordinates with artists to create the data for cyberbrains to interact with people’s emotions. The victim is a girl artist named Lux. The jury has to investigate what really happened by reliving the memory data of the defendant. This title is Spicy Tail’s new adventure adopting HMD in a VR space.

Overall this mixed bag of games is pretty interesting, although I will admit I am little worried about quality. NKT Studio openly admits on their Steam page that Serment – Contract with a Devil’s current UI is not done by professionals. They then go on to say that the ‘art assets like character sprites’ shown in screenshots ‘give a more accurate idea of the quality you can expect in the final game release’, which doesn’t do much to pacify me. The art in the title shot shows two vastly different levels of quality, with the sorceress and winged-woman drawn hugely better than the other three women. It is my hope that this means the group are in the process of updating their character sprites and CG gallery. Falsetto Memories brings up similar concerns for me in terms of writing. Beginner indie groups are perfectly capable of creating wonderful, entertaining games. Hopefully all three games will show-off to the best of their ability!

Spread the love!
