The 2017 Fall Anime Outfit Must-Haves for Your Wardrobe

Summer creeps once more into the darkness, and soon all we’ll be left with is a crisp world of muted colours, black nights, and the constant stains of vibrant oranges and complex browns will soon cover the world. Throw those summer clothes in the “dropped list”. These are some of the Fall anime outfit must-haves for your wardrobe.

The Jacket

Jackets are integral to creating a full outfit, especially when it comes to Autumn/Winter. It’s always a safe bet to stick to some cosplay jackets that mimic the style of current anime. Boruto’s style from his own ongoing series is very in right now, and is a perfect, sporty look for this season that’s bound to stick around for a while just like the Naruto Collection did. Black, with red trim, it’ll go with most outfits.

Another couple of picks are Himouto’s cloak for maximum cosiness, thanks to her new series. And, if you’re looking for something a bit lighter, consider adding a sprinkling of jacket with some sort of hooded cloak. The robes worn by Black Clover‘s magic knights, the Black Bulls, would be a very current and forward thinking look. Whatever you do, don’t overdo it with the jacket, but keep it stylish.

The Wig

Nothing says anime fan like a styled wig. As usual, wig rules apply this season. There’s no need to be too forceful about sticking to current anime, as wigs are much more of a freeform piece. Work with your outfit, and mix and match styles that go with the season.

Orange is very in this time around, so you can’t go wrong with a look like Hinata’s bright orange, mid-length, spiky hair. Or, go “full cherry blossom viewing” with something like Hitagi from the recent season of Monogatari, Owarimonogatari.

The Top

Tops. We’re talking mainly tees. This is it. The key piece when it comes to representing yourself as anime fan regardless of season. As tees are such a staple year round, you need to make sure you’re really staying current with your new wardrobe. We’d recommend keeping a focus on brand new anime when building your outfit, such as The Ancient Magus’ Bride or Children of the Whales, as shown below. Let’s get trend setting here.

Alternatively, go for a subtle, classy still relevant ongoing or recent anime. Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma has just entered its third season, and the Yukihira restaurant logo design is just the way to go for something low-key.

The Bride of Thorns Tee, £23.34, from The Ancient Magus’ Bride

Children of the Whales American Apparel Tee, $24.95, from Kujira no Kora wa Sajou ni Utau

Yukihira Restaurant Classic Tee, £14.50, from Food Wars: Shokugeki No Soma

The Trousers

Chuck away those jeans. For anime fans, they make absolutely no statement. Autumn’s calling, and it’s very clear that either cosplay trousers or loud print leg pieces are the way to go. Sportwear is very in this season, so you can’t go wrong with a leg piece from a recent sports or high energy anime. Boruto’s ongoing look is strong as a complete outfit, but why not try mixing Boruto’s stone cold classic joggers with a little something else?

On the other end of the spectrum something in the season’s colour with a loud full print design might work, or maybe go for a more low-key current season pattern print to keep things subtle down below.

Boruto Joggers, $48, from Boruto: Naruto Next Generations

Boruto’s Dad’s Face Leggings, £34.38, from Naruto

Umu Nero Leggings, £30.25, from Fate/

The Trainers

Your all important choice of footwear might be the defining feature of any outfit. Of course, trainers are always in, whether you go for some of those ankle protecting hi-tops that are great for the chilly seasons to come, or kick it with some skater classics like Vans.

We recommend using your footwear to make a waifu fashion statement from a recent show, be it a huge face pic of one character in particular (perfect for a low trainer), or finding an ensemble cast piece to add some colour to those hi-tops!

Sunshine Hi-Tops, $91.90, from Love Live! Sunshine!! 2

Aoba’s Face Vans, £77, from New Game!!

Try Something New

While you don’t want to be the person still wearing One Punch Man or Asterisk War t-shirts to the con, some true classics are always going to play well regardless of season. We’re talking Cowboy Bebop wear, or Pokemon brand.

But if there’s one takeaway from the start of a new season, it’s to try to get yourself to explore something new. Because you just might like it!

Spread the love!
