Capcom Spills the Beans on Resident Evil 7

We were surprised by Resident Evil 7 reveal at this year’s E3. It seems Capcom pulled inspiration from Silent Hills that wasn’t meant to be and decided to make a first person VR experience. The developers at Capcom recently gave an interview in order to explain a bit more about the game and why they decided to go down this route for the 7th entry in the series.

The game will be using their brand new in-house engine, which they developed as to perfectly satisfy each and every demand they had in mind. Despite having a plethora of memorable characters in Resident Evil’s 20-year history, players will be able to experience RE7 as themselves. This was done with the first person perspective in mind and given how this game will focus more on the horror aspect of the series.

This is where you might be wondering as to why this title is a part of the numbered series and not a self-contained spin-off. The developers revealed that the story will be a sequel to the existing mainline series and that it will all come together in the final game. Furthermore, they disclosed that this was not a reboot, and is instead a regular entry in the series. But it sort of comes down like a reboot with it’s different aesthetic and return to the simple “scary mansion” formula. It is yet to be seen how the full game will turn out until the official release on January 24th on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
