DEAD OR ALIVE 6 delayed until March 1st 2019

Last year saw a phenomenal amount of new fighting games hit the market, and a continued upward trend of popularity of the fighting game eSports scene. 2019 is looking to exceed its predecessor with a large amount of big titles on the horizon, the first of which is the hotly anticipated DEAD OR ALIVE 6.

Sadly, however, KOEI TECMO Europe and Team NINJA have announced today (to my immense disappointment, I might add) that DEAD OR ALIVE 6 will now be released worldwide on the March 1st 2019. The change in date, originally scheduled for a February 15th release, is due to the developer’s desire to further enhance and balance the hotly-anticipated fighting game.

From Yohei Shimbori, the game’s Producer and Director,

“The title’s development is already near complete; however, we would like to take more time to further polish its balance, gameplay, and expressivity. In return for your patience, we commit to bringing you the best DEAD OR ALIVE gaming experience. I am truly sorry for the inconvenience caused by the release delay of DEAD OR ALIVE 6.”

This is a disappointment, sure, but I think that any delay to refine the gameplay or visual flair of the game can only be a good thing for the final product. Having seen the game in action at EGX 2018, I can already safely say that this is the most visually impressive DEAD OR ALIVE game yet with incredibly smooth action and all of the over-the-top quirks we’ve all come to expect.

DEAD OR ALIVE 6 is in development for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and digitally on Windows PC via Steam. Are you looking forward to the latest in the DEAD OR ALIVE series? Are you disappointed by the delay? Let us know in the comments, or on Twitter and Facebook, and check back for more coverage of this game and other Japanese titles!

Spread the love!
