EVO 2020 Will Include Marvel Vs. Capcom 2
The line-up for EVO 2020, or The Evolution Championship Series if you want to be fancy, has been revealed, and the big surprise is the inclusion of the classic fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom 2. There’s no room for Mortal Kombat or BBTAG this year, but the rest of the lineup is as expected.
These are the official games for EVO 2020:
Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r]
Super Smash Bros Ultimate
Dragonball FighterZ
Tekken 7
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (Invitational)
Street Fighter V: Champion Edition
SoulCalibur VI
Granblue Fantasy: Versus
Samurai Shodown
EVO is generally considered to be THE premier fighting game event, and there’s a great variation of titles on display this year. Granblue Fantasy: Versus is the only outright addition of a new game, but UNICLR will be replacing UNIST too. It would seem that Arc System Works are looking to push Granblue Fantasy: Versus this year, which would explain why BlazBlue has dropped from the lineup. The interesting drop comes in the form of Mortal Kombat 11, considering the game is still quite healthy and receiving updates. No other NetherRealm game has taken its place.
EVO 2020 Trailer
The Marvel Vs. Capcom tournament will be an 8-player invitational to celebrate the 20th anniversary for the game, with Justin Wong, Duc Do, Sanford Kelly and IFC Yipes announced to be taking part. 4 more players will be picked at a later date, but we don’t know quite how yet. It’s safe to say the community has reacted positively to this news anyway, here are a few of my favourite reactions.
