Fate/Grand Order Anime Special Announced
Popular smartphone game, Fate/Grand Order, is getting a feature-length anime special at the end of the year. Fate/Grand Order – First Order – will be directed by Hitoshi Nanba, with Takuro Tsukada as Assistant Director.
In 2015, as the era of magic draws to a close, a group called Caldea fights for the preservation of mankind. Now Caldea is beginning a Holy Grail Expedition, in order to prevent mankind’s extinction.
This will be a great way of opening up the setting and characters of Grand Order to a wider audience. Many people have expressed interest in a Fate/Grand Order anime and the visuals we have for First Order so far look stunning. The title suggests there could very well be more anime tie-ins of Grand Order to come too, which I’m really pleased about.
Here’s a look at the character designs for some of the main cast:
Fujimaru Ritsuka (CV: Nobunaga Shimazaki) – one of Caldea’s candidate Masters.
Kirieraito Mashu (CV: Rie Takahashi) – a mysterious girl who works for Caldea.
Fou (CV: Ayako Kawasumi) – a cute animal that follows Mashu.
2016 has been a really big year for the Fate franchise, and there’s further news on the Heaven’s Feel movies in just a few days! I can’t wait for both of these to become accessible to western viewers!
