Final Fantasy Awakening English Release Announced for 2018

AKA Final Fantasy Type-0 Online in China, the free-to-play mobile spin-off, Final Fantasy Awakening, will be getting an English release in 2018. Coming via the Hong Kong publishers, Oasis Games, it bizarrely seems to only be confirmed as coming to “Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, India, Laos, Cambodia, and Burma” so far.

There’s already an English website for the game, an official Facebook page, and pre-registration options for the Android and iOS formats in which the game will be releasing.

It’s worth noting that alongside the strange lack of confirmation for Final Fantasy Awakening officially launching in North America or Europe, the game has also not released in Japan. So far, it’s only released in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Signapore, and Malaysia. These releases have featured an Asian-English localisation, but it’s unclear if these new versions will simply use that or not.

Final Fantasy Awakening promises the same setting and characters from the console game, with “console-style gameplay” on mobiles. It also retains the Japanese voice actors from the original game.

It’s a bit of an odd situation. For Final Fantasy Type-0 fans’ sake we hope it gets a confirmation on a further official English release soon. The English version of Final Fantasy Awakening releases “Early 2018” in Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, India, Laos, Cambodia, and Burma
