Granblue Fantasy: Versus announced from Arc System Works

It might not have escaped your notice, but I’m quite the fan of fighting games, especially those of the anime variety. Of the creators of these games, I think it is fair to say that Arc System Works have the strongest selection of them. So, cue these icons of the genre making a fighting game of the popular RPG Granblue Fantasy.

Granblue Fantasy: Versus is this new fighting game from Arc, as we all know as the developers of Guilty Gear, BlazBlue and the tremendously popular Dragon Ball FighterZ, and is co-developed by Cygames. It is confirmed for only PS4 at present, with a very vague Japanese date of “2019”, but hopefully we will hear more formats and a more specific date soon.

The debut trailer is below, and has characters from the original Granblue Fantasy, such as Gran, Katalina and Lancelot, with each character having special moves based on their abilities from the original game, and the game looks absolutely stunning with what looks like fully voiced anime cut scenes and a gorgeous in-game anime art style.

Needless to say that I’m very excited to hear about Granblue Fantasy: Versus, especially with my disappointment that we still haven’t got the original game yet. I have watched the trailer for Versus excessively since it was released, and am practically salivating at the thought of more information. I only have one small thing to say about the game though. If Eustace isn’t in the game, I will riot. I mean it.

What do you think of the trailer? Are you excited for Granblue Fantasy: Versus? Let us know in the comments, or on Facebook and Twitter, and check back for more coverage of this and other Japanese titles.

Spread the love!
