Hollywood Mega Man Live Action Movie Announced

Capcom has announced that a Hollywood Mega Man live action movie is in the works, as part of the series’ 30th anniversary celebrations, with Paranormal Activity 3 and 4 directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman at the helm. Is this a good idea? Probably not. But we can’t say either way for sure at this early stage.

Here’s a little more from Capcom about some key figures involved with the film:

The feature film, tentatively titled MEGA MAN, will be written and directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, and is scheduled to be distributed by 20th Century Fox. Chernin Entertainment, responsible for the Planet of the Apes series, will be producing it with Masi Oka, of Heroes fame. Based on the influential and globally beloved Mega Man franchise, Capcom aims to appeal to a diverse audience, including not only game players but action movie fans as well, with an adaptation that maintains the world of the Mega Mangames, while incorporating the grand production and entertainment value that Hollywood movies are known for.

It’s an interesting mix, but I just struggle to picture a Mega Man live action movie at all! Hopefully, trying to please both fans of the series and newcomers won’t end up pleasing neither. It’ll be nice to get a look at it when the first trailer’s released.
