Nintendo 2DS Announced
Along with the announcement that the Wii U is getting a $50 price drop in the US, Nintendo also has some other bizarre news: they’re also releasing a 2D only 3DS, fittingly called the 2DS, with a lower price-point and a new design to go with it.
No, this isn’t a joke, the 2DS is an actual handheld that will be coming out later this year. It seems like Nintendo have given up on their claims that 3D enhances handheld gaming, though this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The main problem with the 2DS however , in my opinion, is the design. Seriously, look at this thing:
While I assume it’s designed this way to reduce production cost, the 2DS isn’t exactly the nicest looking handheld ever, and not very portable either.
The 2DS will be available in the US from 12th October, on the same day as Pokémon X and Y, for $129.99. No bundles have been announced, but due the the timing of its release, a Pokémon 2DS bundle isn’t out of the question.
