NIS America Announcements, and Our Notifications
I’m not often a fan of big news post summary pieces, but there’s been quite an eruption of things this month. Not only do I want to share some info on Disgaea 5, Operation Abyss, The Awakened Fate Ultimatum and BlazBlue Chronophantasma Extend, but I also want to let you know about some new Rice Digital things too!
We’ll get the best news out of the way first: NIS America have announced that all three of their games I mentioned above (Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance, Operation Abyss: New Tokyo Legacy, and The Awakened Fate Ultimatum) will be getting both a physical and a digital release. Perhaps they finally heard the call of fans saying that physical releases do matter to them, but I’m pretty pleased to hear they’re not cutting any corners.
The news came in just this morning — the very morning after people’s champion Geraint Evans publically threw down the gauntlet regarding a physical release for just-announced Steins;Gate, saying that as head of marketing he was “against digital-only releases”. Could that be a coincidence? Who knows? I’m just connecting the dots. It’s a good time to be a fan of the physical.
You also may have noticed we’ve now made it easier to search our Rice Digital Store from our news site in the top right, in the search bar. We’ve also added a Hot Deals tab to the store to make it easier than ever to see those products where we’ve cut the bag and let the price slowly seep out onto the floor. We’ve also been adding a lot of upcoming releases for which you can sign up to our product-based mailing lists to receive updates as soon as we know about our editions, stock, and prices!
