Odin Sphere HD Announced for 2016 – Odin Sphere: Leifdrasir
Odin Sphere came out in 2007. Published by Square Enix in Europe and Atlus everywhere else it was one of the best JRPGs on PlayStation 2. It was developed by Vanillaware, and if they know one thing, it’s how to make a gorgeous game. They’ve since developed the much loved Muramasa series, and Dragon’s Crown. But now, 8 years on, Odin Sphere is coming back as Odin Sphere: Leifdrasir, an Odin Sphere HD type treatment.
Besides tweaked gameplay, Odin Sphere: Leifdrasir will also feature new enemies and bosses. It’ll all be presented in keeping with the original, using Vanillaware’s at this point trademark 2D sidescrolling style. Fans of the original will also be pleased with the “Classic Mode” which will allow players to experience the game closer to the original.
There hasn’t been any news yet of a release outside of Japan, but given how spoilt we’ve been recently there should hopefully be news soon. Odin Sphere: Leifdrasir releases in Japan in January 2016, for PS4, PS3, and PS Vita.
