Master System classic Phantasy Star comes to Nintendo Switch!

With all this talk recently of rhythm action games and mobile titles, it would be understandable for most to assume they would be my favourite genres. However, my favourite genre is the humble JRPG, and the original Phantasy Star on the SEGA Master System back in 1987 was one of my childhood gems.

So, I was pleased to hear that Phantasy Star launches today on Nintendo Switch for $7.99 as one of the ever-increasing list of  incredible SEGA AGES titles. Like the  previous SEGA AGES releases, Phantasy Star is developed by the highly acclaimed retro development studio M2, and is playable in its original format or with new quality of life features.

In SEGA’s own words:

One of the most innovative games of its time, Phantasy Star is a groundbreaking sci-fi RPG that follows Alis in her planet-spanning quest to avenge the death of her brother and topple a tyrannical regime. Besides faithfully recreating the original experience, this version adds something for everyone, including a new map display to help novice adventurers and a compendium where longtime fans can view their favourite monsters.

Phantasy Star is available right now on the Nintendo Switch eShop in the North American and Europe regions for $7.99 with commensurate European pricing.
