Raphael Takes the Stage in New Soulcalibur VI Traileron September 19, 2018 by Max Williams
The cat may already be out of the bag, thanks to a recent leak confirming Raphael and Cervantes in Soulcalibur VI, but that just means it’s time to speed ahead with a new Soulcalibur VI trailer focusing on Raphael! Give it a look below. You can check out the previous trailer, focusing on Cervantes, here.
Here’s an overview of Raphael’s character from Bandai Namco:
Raphael is a fencer, delivering deadly blows to his foes with powerful thrusts and slashes. Possessing unrivalled speed and agility he’s difficult to hit and even more to defend against when wielding his signature weapon, the Flambert.
Born to France’s aristocratic Sorel family, Raphael was educated in the customs of high society from a young age. When he was older he instructed and rigorously trained in the art of swordsmanship. He used his knowledge and talent with the rapier to keep his family on top of high French society during the political turmoil and war. His cold and ambivalent nature gained him many enemies. When France’s political balance shifted during the Evil Seed event, his family handed him over to his enemies to save themselves. Raphael eventually escaped to the slums where he was saved by a young girl by the name of Amy.
Given he’s been a mainstay since Soulcalibur II, it really is great to see Raphael in Soulcalibur VI. It’ll be very interesting to get a look at him before he succumbs to Soul Edge, as he did in the story of the later games. Rather than the eccentric vampiric Raphael we’ve grown used to, we have disgraced nobleman Raphael this time. I guess he’s still eccentric though! I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of role he’ll have in the story this time around.
The spots on the Soulcalibur VI roster are quickly filling up, but there should be a couple more to come still! Who knows if there’ll be other characters joining Tira as DLC too? Soulcalibur VI is only a month away, but each new trailer and announcement makes the wait even harder! The game looks and sounds incredible, and we can confirm that it’s just as good to play in our preview.
