Rune Factory 4 cancelled for Europe

MarvelousAQL Europe today announced that Rune Factory 4 – the Harvest Moon / Fantasy RPG hybrid from Neverland – has been cancelled in Europe. Announced last year for a ‘Spring’ release, it’s been pretty quiet on the news front – and there’s been much speculation as to the future of the release.

MarvelousAQL’s statement reads as follows;

“We regret to inform you that the European release of Rune Factory 4 for Nintendo 3DS has been cancelled.

While MarvelousAQL has made every effort to secure the title’s release for this territory, it is, unfortunately, not possible to do so at this time.

MAQL and MAQL Europe would like to thank everyone for their support and enthusiasm for their European releases. Please look forward to announcements on new MAQL titles over the coming months.”

While no mention has been given as to why Rune Factory 4 will not be coming out – it’s a pretty safe bet to suggest it’s down to the closure of developer Neverland Co – who filed for bankruptcy late last year.

Sad news indeed – not least because Rune Factory 4 was widely considered an excellent RPG, and one of the series highlights. Not much in the way of consolation to EU fans – but perhaps a picture of the RF4 girls frolicking in a river will help ease your disappointment?
