My Top 11 Fire Emblem Waifus

Fire Emblem is filled with all sorts of amazing and appealing characters. While I could probably make another husbando list without any repeats, I figured I’d keep the balance with my top 11 Fire Emblem waifus! Insert warning for waifu controversy here. I could easily just list wonderful women from the Tellius games, but I won’t, don’t worry.

#11. Edelgard (Three Houses)

My Top 11 Fire Emblem Waifus

I know, I know, how can she be a top waifu if Three Houses isn’t even out yet? But sometimes you can just tell. I mean, look at her. Her subdued expression makes her appear serious yet approachable, and the combination of ribbons in her hair with her elegant military-inspired uniform conveys both sweetness and maturity. Her eyes are pretty mesmerising too! So, her design is wonderful and I do like a girl who can use axes. I’m expecting good things from you, Edelgard! But, for now, you have to sit pretty in 11th place.

#10. Catria (Shadow Dragon)

My Top 11 Fire Emblem Waifus
Yes, this is her Shadows of Valentia art. I’d like to see Hidari draw all my waifus if I could.

OK, I don’t like Pegasus Knights as units, but I try my best to make it work when Catria’s involved. The middle of the 3 Archanea pegasus sisters, Catria is more subdued and takes it upon herself to play mediator between Est and Palla. She may seem stoic all the time, but she can be stubborn and she has a cute streak too, as she’s a bit of a daydreamer and quite easily embarrassed. Whether her serious personality is your type or not, gosh Catria is pretty. I think she needs a break too. I’d like to take her on a nice, peaceful vacation. Hey, we could even go by pegasus!

#09. Minerva (Shadow Dragon)

My Top 11 Fire Emblem Waifus

Everything about Minerva makes her just the image of strength, but beneath her gorgeous yet intimidating surface, she’s a kind woman with a strong sense of honour and formidable protective instincts. She looks truly stunning in her intricate red and gold armour, which mirrors her own wonderful balance of strength and elegance. There’s not much more splendid than the image of Minerva atop her wyvern, Hauteclere in hand, and you’ve got to love a woman who can strike fear and awe into the hearts of all who look upon her in equal measure.

#08. Cecilia (The Binding Blade)

My Top 11 Fire Emblem Waifus

Etruria is home to some beautiful people, and Mage General Cecilia is certainly among them. Cecilia has a gorgeous design and is no pushover either, as she’s willing to stand up for her beliefs even if it means going against her country. Usually calm and pleasant, I think Cecilia would be relaxing to be around. With her great knowledge and healing skills, she’d be useful if you ever got into trouble too!

#07. Scarlet (Fates)

My Top 11 Fire Emblem Waifus

Poor Scarlet has a pretty rough time of it no matter the route in Fates, and I was sad to see so little of her in Conquest after her introduction piqued my interest. Despite the hardships she withstands, she’s always strong in the face of adversity, and is a real defender of the people, going so far as to start resistance against Nohr. Her bravery and honesty are endearing, and the fact that she’s always got time when someone wants to talk is admirable. As for visuals, the contrast of that hefty armour with bare shoulders peeking out underneath? It’s a good look. Given that she’s a character who can only be married by the player character, you could say it’s meant to be! Also, she covers her weapons in jewels and that’s just cool. I respect a waifu with a knack for prettying things up.

#06. Nephenee (Path of Radiance)

My Top 11 Fire Emblem Waifus

Take simple country girl charm, the skill of an excellent soldier, very pretty green hair and mix them all together and you get Nephenee. There are lots of things to like about that combination! I’m quite taken with her quiet beauty, and she’s a breath of fresh air from all the princesses and noblewomen, as lovely as they are. Despite her strength and looks, however, Nephenee has low self-esteem and is ashamed of her humble origins, which just makes me want to help her have confidence in herself. Just imagine how nice that smile would be!

#05. Mae (Gaiden/Echoes: Shadows of Valentia)

My Top 11 Fire Emblem Waifus

Cute and chipper, it’s very hard not to like Mae. Her confidence in her abilities is refreshing and well-placed, and she doesn’t let being a powerful mage on an important pilgrimage inhibit her carefree nature and ability to have fun either. Her outfit is, frankly, ridiculous, but she somehow makes it work! Her cheer and energy seem as infectious as they are boundless, so it’d be hard to feel down with Mae by your side. Life with Mae would certainly be peaceful days by the ocean filled with laughter.

#04. Marisa (The Sacred Stones)

My Top 11 Fire Emblem Waifus

I have a weakness for characters with tough upbringings that don’t know how to socialise very well, and Marisa definitely fits that description! A formidable sword fighter who’s trained with the blade since childhood, Marisa leads the life of a mercenary with battle as her only drive. Though her aloof and serious demeanour may scare people, it doesn’t detract from how cute she is! She’s as pretty as she is deadly. That messy pink ponytail is just gorgeous, and the little beads at the front only make her cuter! Her voice in Heroes adds an endearing hesitance to her blunt speech too and makes her sound like an honest, hard-working and reliable person I’d like to have around.

#03. Celica (Gaiden/Echoes: Shadows of Valentia)

My Top 11 Fire Emblem Waifus

Where do I start with Celica? She’s kind, compassionate, not to mention beautiful. Though stoic and very responsible, she also has a playful side which comes out when she’s around those she’s close to. Celica always has what’s best for others at heart and dedicates herself to peace, even if her commitment to her cause makes her rather naive and her tendency to put others before herself gets her into all sorts of trouble. While curling up next to Celica with some hot tea and a book sounds ideal, I don’t think I could hack being king of Valentia.

#02. Titania (Path of Radiance)

My Top 11 Fire Emblem Waifus

I do like me a waifu who’s useful in battle. Titania is strong, reliable, caring, and able to keep a rowdy group like the Greil Mercenaries in check. While there are some waifus who set off your own protective instincts, one look at Titania makes me go “I want her to protect me and she almost certainly could” instead. Titania can be my knight in shining armour and ride off into the sunset with me anytime.

#01. Ninian (The Blazing Blade)

My Top 11 Fire Emblem Waifus

Ninian is so precious. Just look at her – she looks like an angel! Soft-spoken and demure, she’s a gifted dancer with a kind soul. What’s not to love about that? She embodies the gentle beauty of the typical heroine archetype at its most charming, and that’s really something. Her flowing dress and hair and her delicate, translucent shawl all work together wonderfully to give her an ethereal prettiness.  While she’s certainly powerful in her own right, I can’t help but want to whisk her away and shield her from harm. If I were a Fire Emblem lord, I would gladly protect Ninian for the rest of my days.

Honourable Mention. Say’ri (Awakening)

My Top 11 Fire Emblem Waifus

I really like Say’ri and, to be honest, she deserved better. Had I written this pre-Three Houses trailer, she would easily have been the one in 11th place. Her old-fashioned speech and formidable fighting spirit are just so charming, and her place in Awakening‘s story was an interesting one. Sadly, however, Say’ri was unfairly overlooked and didn’t get the time or attention she needed to truly shine, so her somewhat wasted potential against the promise of Edelgard didn’t work out in her favour. Fie! Sorry, Say’ri!

So, those are my top 11 Fire Emblem waifus, though there are plenty of other excellent characters who could have made the cut! Do you agree with my picks or do you think I missed someone? Let me know your own choices in the comments here, on Facebook, on Twitter, or by standard bearer!

Spread the love!
