Falcom reveal Ys IX: Monstrum Nox for 2019!

We’ve only recent converts to the Ys series, getting into it with Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana. However, we loved that title so much that we have been looking out for others in the series. So, we were very excited to hear that Falcom has announced Ys IX: Monstrum Nox for PlayStation 4.

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox takes place in Baldeux, which is northeast of Esterior in the Gllia Eldlingen region. Set in a huge city known as “Prison City,” a new adventure surrounding the mysteries hidden in the city will unfold alongside people called “Monstrum” who possess supernatural abilities.

All of the mainstays of the series have been stated to be returning, and so battles against giant bosses (some of our favourite parts of Ys VIII) will return alongside numerous new elements connected to Ys IX‘s setting, including the use of “Supernatural Actions” of Monstrum to freely explore all areas of the field, “Guild Operations” in Prison City, and more.

There’s still no sign of Adol Christin in the art, but he is sure to appear, being one of the main characters of the series (along with Dogi of course). The art so far is definitely taking a darker approach than that of Lacrimosa of Dana, and you can see everything that’s currently available on the official teaser site.

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is only so far announced for Playstation 4 and confirmed for the Japan region, but hopefully it will see a full worldwide release (and maybe an extra couple of formats for luck). What do you think of the Ys series? Are you excited for another instalment? Let us know in the comments, or on Twitter and Facebook, and check back for more coverage of this game and other Japanese titles.

Spread the love!
